Artist in Residence: Paula Marchionda

The dates of her residency were August 26 - December 2, 2019. During the residency, she kept open studio hours at 970West on Tuesdays from 4 pm to 6 pm, allowing her to showcase her work with glass art and her creative process for Mesa County residents. She also gave five public, educational programs:

Artist Talk- All About the Art of Glass Fusing (September 5, 2019, 6:00-7 pm), Mesa Room
Event Description:
All ages no limit. Fused glass artist, Paula Marchionda, will teach about the science and techniques behind the art of glass fusing.

Recycle That Bottle! (Thursday, September 26, 2019)
Event Description:
Adult. Registration required. Limit 8. During this program, Paula will teach the process of creating a fused glass dish using a broken wine bottle, slump mold, and kiln. Bring your own empty and clean wine bottle or use one provided. Please note that finished dishes can be picked up at a later date to allow for the firing process. Supplies included and registration is required.

Recycled Glass Snowflakes (same class offered twice: Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 6 pm in Clifton, October 22 at 3 pm in Fruita)
Event Description:
Supplies included. Registration required. Using reclaimed glass from windows, participants will each create a fused glass snowflake ornament. Please note that finished ornaments can be picked up at a later date to allow for the firing process.

TEEN program: Glass Pendant Making (November 15, 2019, 4 pm), Central Teen area
Event Description:
Make a fused glass pendant from dichroic glass. Fused pendants can be picked up at a later date to allow for the firing process. Supplies included. No registration (Limited to the first 15 or so teens)
